Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green Collects 17 Titles at the
James Stewart AMA Freestone Spring Championship

Irvine, Calif. (March 24, 2015) – Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green won 17 championships at the James Stewart AMA Freestone Spring Championship at Freestone County Raceway in Texas.  Four Team Green riders collected a pair of titles at the event with Austin Forkner winning five of his six motos and taking the Schoolboy 2 B/C and 250 B/C championships.  Lance Kobusch won both the 85cc (9-13) and Mini Sr. (12-13) classes while Ryder DiFrancesco took the 65cc (7-9) Limited and 65cc (7-9) class championships.

Almost Perfect
Forkner was one of the fastest riders at the event, continuously posting lap times equal and faster than the pros competing.  Forkner swept the first moto in all three of his classes. In the 250 B/C class second moto, Forkner went down in the first turn and remounted in last place. An incredible ride from last to first led to his first title as he passed all 40 riders in the six-lap race. After also claiming the Schoolboy 2 B/C title, Forkner entered the 250 B final moto looking for a clean sweep. Overnight rain and extremely muddy conditions saw the moto shortened and run on a modified track. In the slop, Forkner got a mid-pack start and was only able to make it up to fifth by the checkered flag to finish third overall.

On the Cusp
Kawasaki Team Green looked impressive in all of the big bike classes at Freestone with Mitchel Harrison taking the 250 A championship with a 2-1-3 result on his KX™ 250F. Darian Sanyei and Mark Worth both won motos in the 250A and 450A class respectively. After coming together on the track during the second 250 A moto, both were unable to continue. Joey Crown also claimed a title in exciting fashion, battling to the checkered flag to win the second moto in the 250B Limited class. In the Vet classes it was Team Green stalwart Earl May sweeping four motos and taking two titles in the Senior 45+ and Masters 50+ classes while Abram Zies went 1-2 to claim the Vet B/C class.

Kobusch, Garrett Marchbanks, and Jett Reynolds flew the Team Green flag in the Supermini and 85cc classes combing to win four titles. Kobusch won the 85cc (9-13) and Mini Sr. classes by taking control and winning the second moto on his KX™85. Kobusch also collected a second place in the Supermini 1 class and a third place in the 85cc (12-14) class. Reynolds took home the checkers in both motos in the 85cc (9-11) class to take the championship. In the Supermini 2 class Marchbanks went 2-1 to take the title.

The second round of the WMX series took place in Freestone and Kylie Fasnacht remained perfect scoring two moto wins and claiming her second overall win of the season. Fasnacht led a Kawasaki sweep of the top two positions with Marissa Markelon finishing 2-2 on her KX™250F.

Plethora of Weather
The riders not only battled a notoriously tough track, which has previously hosted AMA Pro Motocross Nationals, they battled the elements as well. Mother nature provided a variety of rain, wind, heat and chill to keep the riders, and the mechanic’s tuning their bikes, on their toes. The rain was so heavy before the last day, the track had to be shortened.
